A $10,000 website can be a sensible investment for some coaching businesses and a poor investment for others.
It is difficult to justify if you are still testing your offer, have very little visibility, are unsure who you want to serve or do not yet have a reliable way of creating interest. A more focused first step may be more appropriate.
For an established coach, the economics can look very different. If you already create opportunities through referrals, networking, LinkedIn, speaking or content, the website becomes part of the decision-making journey for people who are already considering you. If one coaching engagement is worth several thousand dollars, improving the quality of that journey may have significant commercial value.
The important distinction is what the $10,000 buys. Paying that amount purely for a more attractive design is very different from investing in clearer positioning, written messaging, a client-centred website, lead magnets, follow-up and a connected discovery call journey.
The investment should make sense in the context of your business model, client value and existing ability to create interest.
